Artist Spotlight: Sean Dupre

Sean Dupre grew up in View Park, Los Angeles. That is up the hill from the Crenshaw district. Coming up as a rapper, he would walk down the hill to find cyphers in barber shops and in Lemert Park. Most of his cypher days were at the high school lunch tables. The pseudonym, Ibex, is a ram. His stage name is associated with the fact that he would come down the hill to find rappers. A rapper with many names. Ibex AKA RyJean, delivers lyrics with a variety of styles; from in your face battles and political issues, to party and even complex love songs. His witty talent with metaphors and rhyme scheme is never a let down to listeners in search for good hip hop. In 2009 he grabbed some attention with his first original solo project entitled “The Merovingian Dark Ages”. He landed various spots to perform around Los Angeles and an interview in a Japanese fashion magazine. In 2010 he linked up with a singer from France (Lala Campbell) to complete the EP “Star Cross’d”. 2012 he released the mix tape “Back House Music”, and his global presence as strong lyricists continues to grow as he has worked with producers from all over the world and produced many of his own compositions. Ibex is an outstanding example of a hard working emcee, determined to supply listeners of genuine Hip Hop music.
