When people think about Oprah Winfrey and her best friend, Gayle King, undoubtedly a few things come to mind – road trips, shopping, incessant talking and giggling. Some might even remember the fact that Oprah, now a billionaire, grew up very poor but has often talked about the fact that her BFF, Gayle, had a very privileged childhood. Never has either discussed body art and, truly, the idea that either of them would consider a tattoo would probably surprise their fans. Imagine the shock, therefore, when Gayle posted a picture of herself sporting the image of rapper, 50 Cent, on her left bicep. She revealed the artwork to the erstwhile, Curtis Jackson, when he appeared on her OWN network talk show. Fortunately, the tattoo was temporary but she definitely had fun with it, tweeting the following along with a picture: “@50Cent: From the original G-Unit, I now feel so close to you….Thanks for being such a good sport! pic.twitter.com/miyXHdZM.” Apparently the affection goes both ways. 50 Cent has a cat named Gayle and a dog named Oprah. While 50 Cent blushed during the interview, Gayle joked: “If 50 Cent and Gayle got together, do you know the scandal that would cause?” Will her other crush, opera singer Josh Groban, be jealous when he hears about this?
Golf Wang met Brick Squad at Center Stage in Atlanta last night. Waka Flocka Flame was the surprise guest during Odd Future’s show. The wild audience got even wilder when Waka hit the stage to perform “Karma,” “Keep It Real,” and “Bitch Suck Dick” with Tyler, the Creator and his raucous crew.
“That was so fucking cool,” said the OFWGKTA leader as Waka chanted, “Wolf Gang, Brick Squad.”
There was a big confrontation at Nicki Minaj’s house in Hollywood moments ago … and it got so bad the cops came … TMZ has learned. Here’s the backstory. Law enforcement tells us, a couple of weeks ago, Nicki’s maid took a photo of the singer out of the trash and then asked Nicki to sign it.
Nicki got pissed and fired her. Cops tell us, the maid did come back today, and Nicki became enraged and ordered her to leave. A source privy to the fight tells TMZ, the maid stood her ground, demanding not to be “treated like an animal” — at which point, Nicki allegedly said, “I’ll show you how to treat someone like an animal … get the f**k out of my house!” Now here’s where the stories are a bit conflicting.
One source says — contrary to what the cops say — Nicki actually made a mistake, saw another maid and assumed she was the one Nicki had fired. We have had multiple people involved in the incident tell us … the maid Nicki confronted was NOT the same maid she fired a few weeks ago. It was a case of mistaken identity. Either way, Nicki’s boyfriend got in the act and began pushing the maid with his body. The maid’s boss called the cops and filed a battery report. The cops came and the maid asked to make a citizen’s arrest, but eventually decided against it so no one was taken into custody.
J Gill is a 19 year old up and coming hip/hop artist from the Philadelphia area. What started off as just having fun freestyling with a couple homies a few years ago has turned into J Gill’s every day life, now creating real music. A lot of people say they love music, guaranteed no one puts their heart and soul into every song the way the kid does. When i say he spends all day just thinking of new bars or new song ideas, its serious. As he’s gotten older, his talents have gotten a lot better leading him to go all out in trying to make it in the music industry. It’s a dream of his, and he’s very much looking forward to getting his name out there and also networking, creating friendships throughout the music industry. The summer of 2011 is when things started to get real serious as J Gill hit the studio for the recording of his first mixtape Real Shit (please listen if you haven’t yet, you’ll like what you hear, guaranteed.) Recorded in his friend’s bedroom, the production still came out excellent, shout out to DJ Friedberg, another member of the Hollywood Rd. family. Gill’s first mixtape was composed of 19 songs, all remixes due the unavailability of original beats. Still, for a first mixtape the potential for how good this guy can become is there. J Gill provides a unique flow, and isn’t just one dimensional in his song making. He has the ability to make those club bangers yet at the same time the ability to tone it down and drop a serious track. New to the game and still unexperienced, the kid definitely deserves a shot and given the opportunity those who work with him would see his desire to really make it big. If you’ve ever met him, that would describe the reason for him maybe being one of the most self-confident people on the planet. Gill is currently in the studio about to start writing and recording for the second mixtape (no name yet), which is going to be all original songs by the way, to showcase his creative ability as a songmaker. Bigger and better things are in the making, this is only the beginning of a hopefully long, successful career.
It was a crowning moment for Jay-Z and Kanye West as they kicked off the Watch the Throne tour to a packed house at Philips Arena in Atlanta on Friday night (Oct. 28). The hip-hop kings, collectively known as The Throne, opened the most anticipated hip-hop tour of the year with a bang, emerging on two cube-shaped mini stages to the operatic sounds of “H•A•M.”
During the two-and-a-half hour extravaganza, each rapper took turns performing solo material and came together for their collective efforts off Watch the Throne as images of Rottweilers, tigers, and sharks filled the screens and lasers beamed across the arena. After their joint opener, Kanye exited the stage letting Jay-Z shine on his own with “Where I’m From.” He encouraged the audience to sing along to “Empire State of Mind” and told them to throw their diamonds up as he ran through his catalog of classics including “Dirt Off Your Shoulder,” “Big Pimpin’,” and “Hard Knock Life.” As always, Yeezy’s swagger was on a hundred thousand. The trendsetter sported a T-shirt with the beastly image of himself from the Riccardo Tisci-designed album artwork and pulled off a leather kilt while dropping hit after hit off his five albums. He appeared to be on the verge of tears during “Runaway,” pouring his emotions into the song. “Atlanta, you are now looking at black excellence at its finest. Make some … noise!” Jay said at one point while putting his arm around Kanye. The historic evening concluded with a powerful performance of “Made in America” as Hov asked the audience to hold up their phones and lighters in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. Jay and ‘Ye followed with “Why I Love You,” affirming their status as two of the greatest who ever did it.
