A fight broke out backstage at the BET Hip Hop Awards tonight between Rick Ross and Young Jeezy that resulted in shots being fired .. sources at the awards tell TMZ.

According to our sources, Ross and Jeezy exchanged words backstage and started pushing and shoving each other. We’re told BET security and bodyguards for each of the rappers eventually separated the two.

Our sources on the scene say that after the fight had been broken up, a member of Rick Ross’ entourage pulled out a gun while in the parking lot and shots were fired.

We’re told Jeezy and Ross are still at the awards, which are being taped tonight in Atlanta and air next month.

A spokesperson for the Atlanta Police Department tells TMZ, “Shortly after 7:15 pm Saturday, a fight broke out in the parking lot at the Atlanta Civic Center (where the BET Awards were being taped) between two groups. Atlanta Police Department officers on scene responded to break up the fight and used OC spray in the process. Individuals fled the scene. There were no arrests or reports of serious injuries. Reports of shots fired appear to be untrue.” Our sources maintain shots were fired.

We’re also told that 50 Cent got into it with a rapper named Gunplay, a protégé of Rick Ross.

Can’t we all just get along?

A rep for BET tells TMZ, “BET Networks works very hard to bring the best in entertainment to the city of Atlanta. For the past 7 years BET has celebrated the true art form of Hip Hop. Due to some misjudgment of select attendees, it is unfortunate that certain incidents took place. BET Networks does not condone any type of violence. Local authorities are working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.”

Artist of The Week: Buggs Papo (Jamaica, Queens NY)

Posted by: Scott

Buggs Papo was born and raised in Jamaica, Queens. A small town called south Ozone Park was where his passion for music began. It was at the age of 14 that Buggs began emulating rappers such as The Notorious B.I.G, Busta Rhymes, Jay Z, and many more of hip hops greatest artists. Music became his outlet as a way to stay away from the street and keep trouble at a distance. It was through his music that Buggs began to identify himself, not just as a rapper but as an individual with the drive to succeed in the music industry as well as in life. Through the trials and tribulations of both himself and his fellow peers Buggs learned how to survive in this game of life. Buggs built survival skills such as focus, patience, determination, and hard work. As years began to progress he co-founded a rap group that consisted of 3 members. The group goes by the name of the Da Hollows. Since the development of the Da Hollows, Buggs has been releasing both underground group efforts as well as solo efforts. Since the beginning Biggs dreams has been to become one of the biggest brands in the hip hop industry. That dreams remains to burn strong as he continues to make his dream a reality.

Happy 30th Birthday To Lil Wayne!

Weezy F Baby has now been in the music industry for around 20 years and is still on top releasing hot music consistently and making us all laugh with his “I Don’t Give A Fuck” attitude that can be seen in videos such as his recent deposition. I’m pretty sure that this is why most of you are fans of Weezy and continue to support him, as well as look up to him for inspiration. Since his 29th birthday, Tunechi has had another successful year with his TRUKFIT clothing line being sold in stores such as Macy’s, linking up with Mountain Dew for their “DEWeezy” campaign, getting a crazy amount of downloads and great feedback on his Dedication 4 mixtape, winning a MTV VMA award for “Best Hip-Hop Video” and a BMI Urban Music award for “Songwriter Of The Year” (both with Drake), and three of his Young Money artists dropping albums (Take Care, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded and Careless World). I wonder what accomplishments Lil Wayne will achieve for his next birthday Oh and I wonder what Birdman will be surprising Weezy with this year…

Many artists struggle to establish their musical identity, laboriously trying on different musical styles like a piece of clothing, looking to find what fits. But there are others that emerge fully formed, in full command of their craft, their identity and their music. Satchy fits firmly in a different category than most because he has the ability to touch people with his lyrics. A Tennessee boy who grew up in Columbia, near Nashville, Satchy was influenced by his uncle and stepfather band and various hip hop artist , but didn’t take music seriously until he was in his early teens. He started writting songs and later was featured on the Third Street Baller’s hit song ” We Be From Tennessee”. As his name grew in and around the Tennessee area, the pieces began to fall into place for Satchy. He began to be booked for shows with at the time most known Tennessee Artist such as Kingpin Skinny Pimp(Memphis,Tn) Pistol aka P Gates,(Nashville,Tn) and Quannie Cash (Nashville,Tn). Also featuring a dvd with Young Buck(Nashville,Tn) and Project Pat?(Memphis,Tn). Also featured on Dj Rpm Indie Top 50 Vol.80. Also featured on Thats Hip Hop.Com Dj Drama Third Infantry Division Part 2. Satchy is currently working on a mixtape that has not yet been titled. He also has recently been working on features with other artist that he chooses not to name. He is very optimistic about his future in the music industry because he feels he has a story that needs to be told.
