Kendrick Lamar has been tapped a musical guest on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” and the Compton rapper couldn’t hide his excitement for the gig. In a recent interview, Lamar also revealed that he wants to take part in the comedy–not must be the musical guest. “Yeah, I’ll do a skit. We clown around in the studio all day; I can do it on TV in front of the camera,” Kendrick told MTV News. The rapper also implored the producers to allow him to do more than rap. “Put me in one of those skits ‘SNL’! Wassup?”"‘SNL,’ that’s a whole ‘nother world, especially for a new artist in hip-hop. I’m blessed,” he said. “I’m fortunate to not only have the urban culture to be looking at my music, but just everybody around the world to feel the same way about it. And I just really appreciate everybody taking the time out to listen.”
Reggie VaShaun was born and raised in Waukegan, IL. At young age his grandmother exposed to “soul music”, as his mother exposed him to rap (Notorius BIG). Reggie began rapping at the age of 16. He used writing to express himself and to get away from the troubles that surrounded him. Reggie’s greatest musical influences will always be Jay-Z and Lauryn Hill. Jay-Z’s rap style allows him to rap to you as if he’s having a normal conversation with you. Lauryn Hill’s ability to sing, rap and create messages that relate to men and women inspired Reggie to diversify his expression through his music. Jay-Z’s “Let It Breathe” was the first song Reggie wrote to. Reggie soon started taking rap serious after being denied a featured he wanted from a local rapper. The feeling of rejection inspired Reggie to make his first mix-tape “Love Me Now Hate Me Later”; which allowed him to pull up his own seat at the table amongst the local talent. In his last year college, Reggie decided to complete his second mix-tape “Show And Prove”. Three years after his first mix-tape, Reggie wanted to showcase his growth as an artist.

A slight title change from “187? to “Dope” still leaves the video feeling like the former’s title. Starting off with a quick night-time homicide, Tyga then takes police cars on a chase that doesn’t end even when the video is over. To be continued? Possibly. Not a bad visual, though. Directed by Colin Tiley. Hotel California coming out in March.

Justin Timberlake is so respected and praised in music, so it only makes sense that the news of his return has been the talk of the internet since last week. A new album, The 20/20 Experience, entirely produced by Timbaland is on the horizon, but here’s the first single titled “Suit & Tie.” It’s a smooth longer joint that gets the job done as a small hype record. However, he’s going to need something stronger for a big single, or maybe this one will surprise and do the trick. Stream and purchase it below. Then, read JT’s open letter to his fans after the cut
n Open Letter to you (the fans):
I hope this gets to you the right way. It’s the only way I know to do it. Some people may criticize me for the last 3 days. But it was fun, right?? Right?!?! Besides, I’d rather speak directly to all of you. And, who can knock me for having a little bit of fun with it?
Well… No more teasing. Although, it was A LOT of fun. (Did I mention that I’m having fun with this?? Ha!)
*Makes a serious face*
So, here goes:
This year is an exciting one for me. As you probably have heard through the “grapevine,” I’m gearing up for a big 2013.
Back in June of last year, I quietly started working on what is now, my next journey with that thing I love called MUSIC.
The inspiration for this really came out of the blue and to be honest, I didn’t expect anything out of it. I just went into the studio and started playing around with some sounds and songs. It was probably the best time I’ve had in my career… Just creating with no rules and/or end goal in mind and really enjoying the process.
What I came up with is something I couldn’t be more excited about! It is full of inspiration that I grew up listening to and some newfound muses that I’ve discovered along the way.
I’m calling it “The 20/20 Experience,” and it’s coming out this year.
I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it.
That’s all I’m giving you for now… I know, I know! Again, with the teasing!!!
Get ready. This is going to be fun (well, at least it is for me).
