John Blood Makes Music With a Message!
Posted by: Shawn Petrie
John Blood grew up listening to music with a meaning. Artists such as Burning Spear and Bob Marley to Trinidadian artists like David Rudder, Lord Kitchener and Brother Resistance (just to name a few) were consistently heard around his home. This music had a profound effect on him and the way he lived his life.
The insightful lyrics made him think about things like people, nature, life and the world. Day to day stress strains that bring people down, and hurt in the world were also things that he became more and more aware of. The music that he listened to also made him more aware of the positive things in life like, laughter, dance, expressions of the soul, and bringing people together by a single voice, beat or sound. He has been searching for a new world message ever since.
John knows many people like himself from different lands and cultures. He was exposed to his ancestral African culture, as well as other cultures from North America, Latin America and Europe. His exposure to these places and cultures have not only shaped the fusion of his music but have also influenced the way in which he lives his life. With the help of the Almighty he has been able to produce and be part of that which has brought his life to a new level.
So where does the name John Blood come from? John is for “John Doe” (the name given to any nondescript man in the english language) and Blood (to highlight the similarities in people as apposed to their differences). Any man is a John Blood and any woman is a Jane Blood, we are all the same. Only our cultures are different and are what sets us apart. As cultures fuse us more and more we are beginning to see how alike we really are. This is what John Blood is all about, it is what he wants to show people in his music. Join him on his music journey. “Bless.”
